There are so many beautiful small valleys in New Mexico, especially in the northern mountains. I often travel the back road from Chimayo through Cundiyo and Rio Chiquito. There are places high above the valleys where one can park and just enjoy the timelessness of village life. This is a time when the crops have been harvested, the hay has been mowed, the loads of wood piled high in the yard -- and, best of all, the chiles have been roasted and stored for the long winter months to come!
